Gadkari, Rajnath appeal for peace in the aftermath of Ayodhya verdict
New Delhi/UNI: Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh on Saturday said everyone must accept the Supreme Court judgement on Ayodhya case and maintain peace and harmony.
'The verdict given by the Supreme Court should be accepted by everyone with ours being a democratic country,' Mr Gadkari told reporters here.
He appealed to everyone to maintain peace and harmony.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the Ayodhya verdict is historic and appealed to people to maintain peace and harmony.
The Supreme Court on Saturday gave the disputed Ayodhya site to Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas while five acres of alternate land to Sunni Waqf to build the mosque. The court also ordered the Central government to formulate a scheme within three months to implement this order.
A five-judge constitutional bench led by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi delivered the judgement after hearing the case for 40 days following failure of a mediation attempt to find an out of court settlement.
The scheme, to be formulated by the Centre will have a Trust for management and construction of temple to which both the inner and outer courtyard will be handed over.
The suit filed by Nirmohi Akhara was time barred and hence dismissed, the bench observed.
