New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced that the government has approved vaccination shots for children aged 15 and 18 years and the vaccination drive will start from January 3 (Monday).

The Prime Minister said "precaution doses" or booster shots will be started for health care and front-line workers and those over 60 from January 10.

The Prime Minister said the decision has been taken after consultation with scientists and experts.

"Coronavirus is not gone. We need to be alert and cautious. The world is talking about Omicron. Today is Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birthday and Christmas, so we decided to announce this step today," PM Modi said.
