Gurpatwant Singh Pannun murder bid: Czech ministry says India has 'no jurisdiction' on Nikhil Gupta

New Delhi: A spokesperson for the Czech Ministry of Justice has made it clear that the Indian judicial authorities lack jurisdiction in the case of Nikhil Gupta, media reports said.

Gupta faces charges in the United States for an alleged conspiracy to assassinate Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun on American soil.

This statement comes after Gupta's family sought intervention from the Supreme Court in the matter.

Nikhil Gupta, accused by the US government of a plot to kill Pannun, has been in custody in Prague for nearly six months.

US federal prosecutors have charged Gupta with associating with an Indian government employee in Pannun’s foiled assassination.

Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who has been designated as a terrorist by India, holds dual citizenship in the US and Canada.

The extradition proceedings for Gupta are currently in progress after the US government engaged with Czech authorities.

Recently, a family member of Gupta approached the Supreme Court, urging it to instruct the Indian government to intervene in the extradition process and ensure a fair trial.

India has already formed an investigative committee to probe the allegations made by the US against Gupta.
