Haryana govt imposes night curfew amid steep rise in Covid cases

Chandigarh/IBNS: Haryana government has imposed a night curfew in the state amid a steep rise in coronavirus cases across the country.

In a tweet, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij wrote: "Considering the steep rise in coronavirus cases, a night curfew between 9 pm and 5 am will be imposed from tonight and will continue until next orders."

Several states have imposed night curfews as the country is recording a stupendous increase in the number of daily Covid cases.

On Sunday, Haryana had reported 16 Covid-19 deaths taking the total fatality tally to 3,268.

The total Covid cases rose to 3,16,881 with a record spike of 3,440 cases on Sunday, according to a health department bulletin.

Meanwhile, India recorded 1,68,912 new Covid-19 cases in the past between Sunday and Tuesday mornings, as per the Ministry of Health released data on Monday.

During the same period, 904 people also lost their lives due to the virus.

The total death toll due to the disease now stands at 170179.
