Himachal Pradesh : Shimla, Manali,Dalhousie cut-off by season's first snowfall

Shimla, Jan 7 (IBNS) : The seasons's first snowfall that flurried thick overnight, has cut-off popular tourist destinations Shimla, Manali and Dalhousie from the rest of the Himachal Pradesh and snapped power services over an extensive area, reports said.

Trees felled by the heavy snowfall snapped electric wires and blocked roads disrupting movement of vehicular traffic in many areas, including National Highway-21 near Shimla making the state capital inaccessible by road.

The intense chill in the weather brought the mercury down to a freezing level as snow lay heaped more than one foot on many roads.

The snowfall followed rain in the  lower areas of Himachal Pradesh, including  Dharamsala, Solan, Nahan,  Una and Mandi.

According to the weather office, the weather is likely to remain the same for the next few days with the likelihood of more snowfall.
