The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Sunday carried out a bulldozer action against a property linked to one of the accused in the Uttam Nagar Holi murder case in New Delhi, in which a 26-year-old man was killed.

Quoting officials, The Statesman reported that the house belonged to one of the accused, Nizamuddin.

According to reports, MCD officials demolished the allegedly illegal portion of the property linked to the accused.

Heavy police and paramilitary forces were deployed in the area during the operation to maintain law and order.

Hindu man killed in Delhi after altercation on Holi

A 26-year-old Hindu man was allegedly killed following a dispute during Holi celebrations in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar, media reports said.

The victim, identified as Tarun Kumar, was reportedly attacked with sticks, rods and stones after an argument escalated into a clash between two families.

According to the victim’s family, the dispute began when an 11-year-old girl was playing Holi on a terrace and threw a water balloon at relatives standing below. The coloured water accidentally splashed on a woman passing by, triggering an altercation between the two sides.

Several people were reportedly injured as the confrontation escalated.

Tarun’s grandfather, Mann Singh, alleged that the woman began abusing family members and started a fight over the incident.

He further claimed that although the matter initially appeared to have been resolved, the woman later returned with several people and allegedly attacked Tarun while he was on his way home.

Reacting to the incident, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta described the killing as “painful”.

In a post on X, she wrote: “This brutal murder of an innocent youth in Uttam Nagar, Delhi, on the auspicious occasion of Holi, is extremely painful, condemnable, and shocking to the entire society.”

“Delhi has a zero-tolerance policy for such heinous criminal and violent incidents. Such brutality will not be tolerated at any cost,” she added.

Gupta said the administration has been directed to immediately arrest all those involved in the crime and ensure strict and swift action in accordance with the law.

“The Delhi government stands with the victim’s family with full sympathy, responsibility and determination during this difficult time. I will ensure the family receives all possible assistance and justice,” she said.
