'I have nothing to do with drugs', says Arjun Rampal after NCB quizzing
Mumbai/IBNS: Actor Arjun Rampal on Friday said he had nothing to with drugs as he was questioned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) over the alleged Bollywood-drugs nexus, media reports said.
"I am fully cooperating with the investigation. I have nothing to do with drugs. The medicine found at my residence was prescribed. The prescription has been found and handed over," Rampal said after being quizzed for six hours.
Rampal's home was searched on Monday after which summons were issued and his girlfriend Gabriella Demetriades was questioned for six hours each on Wednesday and Thursday, the reports further said, adding that her brother Agisialos Demetriades has been arrested twice in connection with alleged drug links.
The probe agency also arrested an Australian architect Paul Bartel, whose name was divulged by Agisialos Demetriades, who is a South African citizen, said the report.
Bartel was arrested in Mumbai and will be produced in court on Friday.
Film producer Firoz Nadiadwala's wife Shabana Saeed was arrested on Monday after sleuths allegedly recovered 10 grams of marijuana at Nadiadwala residence in Mumbai's Juhu during a raid, adding that the probe agency arrested drug peddler Wahid Abdul Kadir Shaikh in Andheri some days ago.
The NCB has already questioned several Bollywood celebrities including top Indian actor Deepika Padukone over the drugs probe.
The drug probe began after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) came across several online chats over drugs while investigating the death of young Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
The drug chats on WhatsApp were found in the mobile phone of actor Rhea Chakraborty, who was also the girlfriend of late Rajput.
Chakraborty, her brother Showik and few others were arrested for allegedly arranging drugs for Rajput, who was also suffering from mental depression.
However, Chakraborty has now been granted bail.
