I went for my treatment, not to meet Sri Sri: Burhan Wani's father

Srinagar, Aug 28 (IBNS): Muzaffar Wani, father of the slain Hizb militant commander Burhan Wani said on Saturday he had gone to Bangalore for treatment and stayed in the ashram run by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for one day to seek care for some 'ailment'.

“He (Sri Sri) is a busy man. He came to meet me for a 3-4 minutes and asked me about how my two sons were killed,” Wani told Kashmir Reader over phone from his residence in Tral after returning from Bangalore.

“I told him the whole story of how my elder son (Khalid Wani) was killed when he had gone to the forest, and how Burhan had left home to actually fight,” Wani said.

On Saturday evening, Sri Sri posted on twitter a photo of him standing with Wani in his ashram saying, “Muzaffar Wani, the father of Burhan Wani was in the ashram for the last two days. We discussed several issues.”

Sri Sri’s tweet was retweeted more than a thousand times by 9 pm Saturday creating abuzz.

However, Muzaffar Wani said, “He (Sri Sri) did not ask me anything else. He just talked to me for five minutes or so at the most.”

“I came back with some medicines for myself. That is all,” Wani said.

The Kashmir Valley has been witnessing massive unrest since the death of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani last month.

The death toll in the Valley touched 70 on Saturday.

Over 11,000 people, including 7,000 civilians and 4,000 security personnel, have been injured in the ongoing unrest.
