'If not now, when!': Sonam Wangchuk backs Cockroach Janta Party protest; spokespersons named ahead of founder Abhijeet Dipke's India return

Ahead of the demonstration, key organisers have intensified preparations in the national capital.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke is scheduled to arrive in Delhi on June 6, following which members of the group will visit the local police station to complete formalities and seek permission for the protest.

The movement has also received a boost with the support of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, whose association has lent greater visibility to the campaign.

Wangchuk said he would join the June 6 protests "if nothing changes by 5th June".

"Any self respecting Minister should resign if things go so wrong... Not to mention the effect on millions of young lives and in fact the future of India," Wangchuk said slamming the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over paper-leaks.

As part of its organisational expansion, CJP on Wednesday announced the appointment of three spokespersons to represent the movement before the media and the public.

Investigative journalist Saurav Das has been named chief spokesperson, while political researcher, author and filmmaker Vijeta Dahiya and former management consultant Ashutosh Ranka will serve as spokespersons.

"CJP is committed to changing the political discourse of India, and this will be led by a new generation of leaders," the organisation said in a statement quoted by Hindustan Times.

The group said the appointments are aimed at strengthening communication and outreach efforts as it seeks to transform an online campaign into a broader public movement.

About the campaign

The Cockroach Janta Party emerged as an online satirical campaign that uses humour and social media engagement to critique governance and public policy issues.

The campaign started following a controversy over remarks attributed to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant regarding unemployed youth. 

In recent months, the initiative has gained traction among sections of young internet users, with its organisers now seeking to translate online support into real-world political activism.
