Indian Railways' Freight Loading up by 4.64 per cent

New Delhi, Feb 12 (IBNS): The Ministry of Railways on Thursday said the Indian Railways has carried 906.36 million tonnes of revenue earning freight traffic during Apr 1, 2014 to Jan 31, 2015.

The freight carried shows an increase of 40.22 million tonnes over the freight traffic of 866.14 million tonnes actually carried during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 4.64 per cent, the Ministry said in a statement.

During the month of January 2015, the revenue earning freight traffic carried by Indian Railways was 97.79 million tonnes.

There is an increase of 1.39 million tonnes over the actual freight traffic of 96.40 million tonnes carried by the Indian Railways during the same period last year, showing an increase of 1.44 per cent.
