India's counter offensive : Heavy firing across LoC continues, Pakistan says ten civilians killed

Srinagar, Nov 23 (IBNS) : At least ten people were reportedly killed in the Pak occupied Kashmir as heavy firing erupted across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday with Indian troops going for a massive counter offensive against Pakistan a day after a soldier was mutilated. dividing India and Pakistan on Wednesday.

According to a report by Pakistan's Geo News, at  least 10 civilians were killed and several injured as a result of  Indian shelling at the LoC.

Geo News quaoted  Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) as saying that  Indian forces carried out 'unprovoked' artillery shelling in Neelum Valley at the LoC targeting a passenger bus, in which nine passengers were killed and eleven injured.

Dawn reported another casualty was reported from Nakyal where six others were injured, Dawn said.

It was alleged that  India also fired at an ambulance which went into the area for evacuation.

The ISPR added that Pakistani troops responded in a 'befitting manner' to the 'Indian aggression.'

Educational institutions were shut down in the area for an indefinite period following the heavy shelling. According to Commissioner Neelum Valley, a shahrah leading to Khel was also closed for traffic. Markets in the area were also closed.

The Indian Army had earlier warned of a befitting reply to Pakistani aggression after three Indian soldiers were killed and the body of one jawan was mutilated in Machhal, Jammu and Kashmir, by Pakistani border action patrols on Tuesday.

"Retribution will be heavy for this cowardly act," the army had said in a statement.

This is the second incident in a month of a soldier's body being mutilated.
