New Delhi/IBNS: Former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram has been granted a bail by the Supreme Court in the INX Media case which is probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), media reports said.

Chidambaram has been granted the bail by a bond of Rs. 1 lakh.

However, Chidambaram will continue to remain in the custody of Enforcement Directorate (ED) which is also probing the case.

Last week, the CBI had chargesheeted Chidambaram as well as his son Karti in the case.

Chidambaram was arrested by the CBI on Aug 21 for allegedly committing corruption by facilitating a huge flow of foreign funds to INX media when he was the Finance Minister. He was sent to Tihar jail on Sept 5.

The CBI has also laid allegations on Chidambaram’s son Karti for receiving huge kickbacks for facilitating the deal.

The Enforcement Directorate has also arrested Chidambaram in the same case and took the former Finance Minister in its custody till Oct 24.
