New Delhi, June 26 (IBNS): Israel government has welcomed Gujarart Chief Minister Vijay Rupani as he is visiting the nation for six days.

"We are happy to welcome Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, to Israel. The Chief Minister will embark today on a 6-day visit to Israel, during which he will be meeting Israeli officials and experts in the fields of agriculture, water management, innovation and internal security, as well as with members of the Israeli-Gujarati community," read a statement issued by the Israeli government.

The Chief Minister is accompanied by Minister of state for Agriculture, Jaydrathsinh Parmar, and a high level delegation.

This visit comes after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s July 2017 visit, reciprocated by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was also warmly received in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

The previous visit by a Gujarat leader to Israel was in 2006 by Chief Minister at the time Narendra Modi.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Daniel Carmon said, “We are happy to continue our strong partnership with Gujarat. It is a proud moment for us to host the Chief Minister of Gujarat and his delegation. We look forward to working with the Indian federal government, the government of Gujarat and other states to integrate relevant Israeli technology and innovation in the Indian agricultural ecosystem.”

Israel’s Consul General in Mumbai will be accompanying the Chief Minister.
