Jammu and Kashmir govt lifts ban on tourist entry
Srinagar: Two month after the abrogation of Article 370 and imposition of restrictions in Jammu and Kashmir, the State government on Monday decided to lift its Aug 2 advisory that asked the tourists to leave the valley immediately on grounds of security threat.
According to the decision, the restriction will be eased from Oct 10 next.
Department of Information and Public Relations, Govt of Jammu & Kashmir tweeted: “Governor Satya Pal Malik on Monday held a Situation cum Security Review Meeting with the Advisors and the Chief Secretary.
The Governor directed that the Home Department’s advisory asking tourists to leave the valley be lifted immediately. This will be done w.e.f. 10.10.2019.”

On August 5, India suspended via a presidential decree Article 370 of the country’s constitution, which granted Jammu and Kashmir a special status, turning the disputed region into two union territories - Jammu and Kashmir with an own legislature, and Ladakh without a legislature.
Three days ahead of the abolition of Article 370, on Aug 2, the Jammu and Kashmir government had issued a security advisory to the Amarnath pilgrims and the tourists in the Kashmir Valley that read: "Keeping in view the latest intelligence inputs of terror threats, with specific targeting of the Amarnath Yatra, and given the prevailing security situation in the Kashmir Valley, in the interest of safety and security of the tourists and Amarnath Yatris, it is advised that they may curtail their stay in the Valley immediately and take necessary measures to return as soon as possible."
