Jammu/UNI: Amidst teary eyes, the family and relatives on Friday performed the last rites of Deepak Chand who was killed by unidentified terrorists in a school in Srinagar.

Two teachers were killed by the gunmen on Thursday in Srinagar.

The body of the deceased teacher arrived here Thursday night.

A pall of gloom descended on Jammu on Thursday afternoon when the news about killing of two school teachers went viral on the social media.

Deepak Chand, was a resident of Patoli Morh, Jammu.

According to the family of the teacher , he returned to Kashmir on Sunday to rejoin his duty after performing the rituals of the first death anniversary of his father Lal Chand.

Deepak, his wife and three-year-old girl live in a rented house in Indira Nagar, Patoli Morh but this time he left the family in Jammu to rejoin the duty.

Chand’s family couldn’t take the news that their beloved son was shot dead.

"For our family, Kashmir is not a heaven but "hell" because it has snatched our loved one," the family said.

Meanwhile, condolences poured in from all walks of life with the bereaved families.

Bharatiya Janata Party Jammu and Kashmir has condemned the recent spurt in terror attacks in Kashmir to selectively hit the soft targets.

It is an effort to derail the ongoing peace process and developmental activities in the Union Territory.
