Jammu and Kashmir: SPO killed, brother wounded in Budgam attack

Srinagar: A Special Police Officer (SPO) was killed while his brother was injured in a militant attack in Kashmir's Budgam district on Saturday evening, officials said.

They said the incident took place at Chadabugh area in Budgam Police said SPO Ishfaq Ahmad and his brother Umar Jan, a student were fired upon by militants at their residence.

“Ishfaq Ahmad succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital,” a police officer said Police has termed it a terror crime.

Meanwhile, joint forces have cordoned off the area and a massive search operation is in progress to trace the attackers. Ishfaq is the second policeman who has been killed in Kashmir in the last four days.

On March 22, a policeman was killed in a brief shooting at Srinagar's Zoonimar Soura area.
