Srinagar, Nov 5 (UNI) Two drug peddlers were arrested and psychotropic substance recovered in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, a police official said on Tuesday.

He said that following specific information about transportation of drugs, a checkpoint was established at Tral-Chaankatar crossing on Monday. ''Police intercepted two persons at the checkpoint and during checking recovered 1600 Tablets of Spasmoproxyvon,'' he said.

Two drug peddlers, identified as Mohammad Ayoub Khan and Abdul Qayoom Sheikh, were immediately taken into custody. ''Police have registered a case and initiated investigation to nab other people involved in drug trafficking,'' he added.

He said community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood, adding persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

''Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,'' he added.
