Kangra:A Plus II student resident of Gaggal committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of his room on Thursday evening, police said here on Friday.

Kesar Singh Station House Officer Gaggal police station told UNI that an identified student was found smoking yesterday by his father, and he had reportedly missed his tuition class too.

His father inquired from him, in the presence of his mother and grandmother, about both of his actions.

Later on, he was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his room.

His father, Anil Bharti, broke open the door and found his only son hanging.

He rushed him to a hospital, where the doctor declared him dead.

The SHO said that police started an investigation under Section 174 of the Cr.P.C. Social activists have said that such incidents are the result of growing intolerance in society, nuclear families, and single-child syndrome.
