Karnataka: Dalit man stripped, beaten for allegedly touching bike

Vijayapura/IBNS: In a video which has been trending on internet since Monday morning, a Dalit man was seen pinned to the ground, stipped and beaten for allegedly touching a bike of one who belongs to an upper caste, media reports said.

The incident took place on Saturday.

After being assaulted by a mob, the victim had reportedly reached the police station to file a complaint.

Senior police officer Anupam Aggarwal said as quoted by NDTV, "An atrocity case was reported in Talikote yesterday about assault on the Dalit Man from Minaji village.

"It was alleged that when he accidentally touched the bike of a man who belonged to the upper caste that he and his family members were assaulted by some 13 men."

13 people have been named in the complaint.
