Belagavi: A training aircraft on Tuesday morning crash landed near Sambra airport due to technical glitch here.

A pilot has suffered minor injuries and has been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, District Fire Officer Sahshidhar Neelgar told reporters at the crash site.

The aircraft reportedly belongs to Redbird which had taken off from Sambra airport around 9.30 am and crash landed near Honnihal village, he said.

"We received a call from the ATC about the crash landing, and we rushed to the spot. We saw the aircraft crash into agricultural land. We also saw a wing of the aircraft damaged," Neelgar said.

"A pilot sustained injuries and has been rushed to the hospital. He is safe," he said, adding that the pilot has been identified as Chambat Ingalesh.

Rescue agencies, including villagers and police, swung into action after the aircraft crash landed.

Marihal police has registered a case and is investigating.
