Chennai, July 28 (IBNS): The condition of ailing  DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi, who was rushed to the hospital past midnight, has improved, though he continues to be in ICU, his daughter Kanimojhi said on Saturday.

"He is better. His blood pressure has stabilised,"  media reports quoted Kanimozhi as having said in the morning.

She said the hospital will shortly issue a bulletin on the health condition of the 94-year-old leader.

Karunanidhi was suffering from fever and infection for the past few days and was being treated round-the-clock by a team of hospitals and nursing professionals at his house.

His condition suddenly declined on Friday evening due to blood pressure issues. His entire family, including sons MK Stalin and MK Alagiri, daughter M Kanimozhi and top DMK leaders rushed back to the house and decided to move him to Kauvery Hospital.

Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit met  Stalin at the hospital today.

Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami has issued a  statement from Salem saying that the government is willing to provide all medical help to DMK president M. Karunanidhi,  if it is sought. "He is a five-time CM and has ruled the State for long," he says.

Several top Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have expressed their concerns over Karunanidhi's health and wished him a speedy recovery.

On Friday, Tamil Nadu ministers and actor-turned-politician Kamal Hassan visited Karunanidhi at his Gopalapuram residence.

Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O Paneerselvam was among the ministers who visited the DMK chief's house.
