Karunanidhi suffers transient setback: Hospital

Chennai, July 29 (IBNS): The hospital where southern politician M Karunanidhi is undergoing treatment on Sunday said the ex-Tamil Nadu Chief Minister suffered "transient setback".

The hospital, however, said the DMK supremo's vital signs are normalising .

In a late night statement, the hospital said: "There was a transient setback in the clinical condition of Karuanidhi, DMK President and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. With active medical support, his vital signs are normalising. He continues to be closely monitored and treated by the panel of expert doctors."

Security has been beefed up outside the hospital as a large number of supporters have gathered outside it.

Senior DMK leaders and members of   M Karunanidhi's family have reached the hospital.

Karunanidhi was reportedly suffering from fever and infection for the past few days.

He was undergoing treatment at his residence for the past few days.

It was only on midnight July 28 when he was rushed to  Kauvery Hospital after his condition deteriorated, reports said.
