Srinagar, May 7 (UNI) Over 700 students, including girls, participated in a three-day district championship of Jeet-Kune-Do Martial Arts in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.

The District level tournament, which is a stepping stone for the players to participate in the upcoming state, national and international events, was organised by District Anantnag Jeet-Kune-Do Association and Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Unified Martial Arts (South) at Oxford Presentation School, Anantnag between May 3 and May 5.

Several top players, who have represented J&K and India at various national and international events, dazzled the audience with their entertaining demonstrations during the closing ceremony held on May 5.

“I would like to congratulate the organisers for such an amazing event. I would advise them to work with the zeal and dedication so that the players of the district bring laurels not only for Anantnag, but for the entire state. The district administration will provide all possible support to them,” Deputy Commissioner of Anantnag, Khalid Jahangir, who was the Chief Guest of the event, said.

“The event was a grand success. With the grace of God, we were able to successfully complete the first ever Jeet-Kune-Do championship despite many hardships in the district. We are thankful to our sponsors, including KHN CHN, Goodwill Associates, Vestige, Aarafh enterprises, Mak Ply board and Titans Sports Club Anantnag, without their support this event would not have been possible,” JKAUMA (South Block) secretary Aaqib Majeed said.

He said that the players selected in the district event will play in the upcoming state championship.
