Srinagar, July 10 (IBNS) : At least two militants were gunned down and a security jawan was injured in an ongoing encounter in Kundalan area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district Tuesday, media reports said.

At least three civilians were also injured as they clashed with security forces near the encounter site.

According to reports, over 5-6 terrorists were holed-up in a house from where they kept firing.

The operation to evacuate the civilians from the nearby houses is also underway.

The gunbattle broke out after security forces launched a cordon and search operation following inputs about the possible presence of militants in the area.

A large number of civilians rushed towards the encounter site at Kundullan and started pelting stones at security personnel. Three civilians were injured in action by security forces to chase away the protestors.
