Thiruvananthapuram/UNI: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday told the State Assembly that Maoists in Attappadi were killed in an exchange of fire with the Thunderbolt of State Police.

The Chief Minister stated this while replying to IUML member N Shamsuddin who sought the Leave of the House to move an advertisement motion seeking discussion on killing of the Maoists.

The Maoists who opened fire at the Thunderbolt first were killed in retaliatory fire, and the police also seized weapons including AK 47 from the Maoists, the Chief Minister said.

In connection with the incident, Agali police have registered two cases, and the crime branch will investigate the case, he added.

The Opposition member alleged that the encounter was fake and the Government was also facing criticism from the ruling coalition partners including CPI leaders Kanam Rajendran and Binoy Viswam MP.
