Kerala: One killed, 12 injured as tempo traveller falls into gorge

A 60-year-old woman was killed and 12 others injured, three of them seriously, when a tempo traveller in which they were travelling fell into a gorge on Madappally National Highway (NH) near Vadakara of Kerala, in the early hours on Tuesday.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Saliya of Pala in Kottayam district.

The incident occurred around 0500 hours. The occupants in the tempo traveller were on their way to attend a funeral of their relative at Vellarikundu in Kasaragod district from Pala in Kottayam district.

The tempo traveller fell into the gorge while giving way to another vehicle on Madappally NH.

Fire force and police personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the three seriously injured persons to Kozhikode Medical College hospital and the rest were undergoing treatment in a private hospital at Vadakara.
