Kerala: Worker trampled to death by wild elephant

A 58-year old cardamom plantation worker was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Elimbilery hills near Meppadi in this district on Saturday.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as C Kunjavaran of Elimbilery.

The incident took place around 0730 hours in the morning when he was on the way to the work site.

The body of Kunjavaran was noticed by the co-workers when they started search operations when he failed to report to duty and the jumbo was standing near the body.

They alerted the forest officials and police.

Meppadi police and Forest officials from Meppadi range office rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Vythiri taluk hospital for post-mortem.
