Kolkata/IBNS: Two months after busting a fake Covid-19 vaccination drive, the Kolkata Police on Thursday filed a charge sheet in a local court at Alipore naming the key accused in the case, Debanjan Deb, and seven others, officials said.

According to reports, vaccination fraudster and fake IAS Debanjan Deb, and seven others have been charged under at least 14 sections of the IPC and Disaster Management Act, including Criminal Conspiracy, Attempt to Murder and Cheating.

Sources in the city police said that 131 people had been named as 'witnesses' in the maiden charge sheet in the case.

Earlier in June, Kolkata Police unearthed a fake Covid vaccination drive held by Debanjan Deb at Kasba after actress-turned-TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty was duped in the camp.

Besides Debanjan Deb, several others were arrested for their alleged involvement with the racket.

Police also recovered a huge amount of fake 'Covishield' vials from Debanjan's possession which were later identified as Amikacin antibiotic.
