Kolkata: The Kolkata Press Club on Monday condemned ruling Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra for terming the media as worth nothing, inviting strong reactions from the fraternity.

"None has the right to hurt the media personnel who work in unfavourable circumstances, we are strongly condemning of TMC MP Mahua Moitra's statement, her remark towards journalists is undoubtedly insulting and undesired," a Kolkata Press Club statement said.

"We hope she will take back her comment and apologize for it as well," the statement read.

Earlier on Sunday, when Mahua Moitra went to join a party-meeting at Gayeshpur in Nadia district, a section of TMC workers staged a protest holding placards against her, and they also engaged in a scuffle with other section of the same party activists.

Amid the situation, Moitra lost her cool and shouted "Two paisa press" to the media personnel present there that time.

After the event was over, when Mahua Moitra was asked about her remark, she said, "I did not ask you to record my comments, then why did you do so? Leave it."
