Lok Sabha polls: Varun Gandhi pens emotional letter to people of Pilibhit after BJP denies ticket

New Delhi: After being denied a ticket from Pilibhit for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, BJP MP Varun Gandhi on Thursday wrote an emotional letter to the people of his constituency and shared the memories of his childhood.

"My term as Pilibhit MP may be ending, but my relationship with Pilibhit will not end till my last breath. I seek your blessings to continue to raise the voice of the common man, no matter what price I have to pay for it," he wrote in the letter.

Today, as I am writing this letter, countless memories have made me emotional.

“I remember that 3-year-old little boy, who came to Pilibhit for the first time in 1983 holding his mother's finger, how did he know that one day this land would become his workplace and the people here would become his family?” Gandhi said.

“I consider myself fortunate that I got the opportunity to serve the great people of Pilibhit for years,” he added.

“I came into politics to raise the voice of the common man, and today I seek your blessings to always continue doing this work, no matter what the cost. The relationship between me and Pilibhit is one of love and trust, which is far above any political merit. I was, am, and will be yours,” Varun Gandhi concluded.

In its fifth list of candidates, the BJP dropped Varun Gandhi from Pilibhit and gave the ticket to former Congress leader Jitin Prasada.

Varun, who won the Pilibhit Lok Sabha seat in 2009 and 2019, had won the Sultanpur Lok Sabha seat in 2014.

The seat was won by his mother, Maneka Gandhi, in 2019.
