Looking forward to talks with Modi on withdrawing higher tariffs: Donald Trump tweets ahead of Osaka meeting
Osaka: Deploring that India has raised its trarrifs against the United States even further and the same must be withdrawn, US President Donald Trump said he is looking forward to holding talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Japan on Friday.
"I look forward to speaking with Prime Minister Modi about the fact that India, for years having put very high Tariffs against the United States, just recently increased the Tariffs even further. This is unacceptable and the Tariffs must be withdrawn!" tweeted Trump amid a bitterness between the two nations over retaliatory trade tariffs.

Higher duties on 28 American products, including almonds, apples and walnuts, came into force this month as a retaliatory measure to the Trump administration's refusal to exempt India from higher steel and aluminum tariffs.
In March 2018, the Trump administration had imposed tariffs of 25 per cent on steel and 10 per cent on aluminum imported from India.
In response, India had raised import taxes but delayed raising the tariffs as the two sides engaged in trade negotiations.
On June 5, President Donald Trump had scrapped trade privileges under the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) for India, the biggest beneficiary of a scheme that allowed duty-free exports of up to $5.6 billion.
