Maharashtra: Cop held in bribery case in Aurangabad

Aurangabad, May 1 (UNI) A police constable attached with MIDC Waluj police station was arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a scrap shop owner for not taking action against him in this district of Maharashtra.

Police said, the accused, Sudhakar Kendre (45), sought Rs 10,000 from a complainant for not registering a case against him for purchasing stolen scrap material, Anti Corruption Bureau said in a statement.

Though, he gave Rs 5,000 to the constable but he made persistent demand for the remaining amount.

The complainant agreed to give Rs 4,000 to him and approached the ACB on Tuesday.

ACB sleuths laid a trap and caught the constable red-handed while accepting the bribe on Tuesday night.
