Thane/UNI: Four patients lost their lives in Prime Criticare Hospital fire at Mumbra in Thane district in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The Chief of the RDMC of the TMC Santosh Kadam said that the fire had broken out around 0340 hrs at the first floor of the hospital. It was a non-Covid hospital.

As many as 20 patients, including 6 ICU patients, were rescued, he added.

The deceased were identified as Ms Yasmeen Zafar Sayyed (46), Nawab Majid Shaikh (47), Halima Ni Salmani (70) and Harish Sonawane (57).

The patients died while being shifted to other hospitals.
The reason might be as they inhaled the smoke arising out of the fire. He said no one died due to the fire injuries.

He clarified that those in the ICU were shifted to the Bilal Hospital while others were discharged.

Local MLA and Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Jitendra Awhad, who rushed to the spot, said that four persons died following the fire that destroyed the first floor.

The minister said that the Chief Minister was appraised of the incident and the family of the deceased will be given a compensation of Rs 5 lakh and Rs 1 lakh to the injured.

He also said that a high level enquiry committee has been constituted to go into the cause of the fire and the entire incident.
