Maharashtra: PWD engineer trapped in bribery case in Nashik

Nashik, Nov 2 (UNI) An assistant engineer of PWD was arrested by the Nashik unit of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2.11 lakh from a complainant here.

Engineer Bharat Sudam Chavan had demanded Rs 7.03 lakh as bribe from the complainant to give an assessment certificate for a building that he wanted to let it out to the government for the ladies hostel.

After bargaining, the accused agreed to accept the bribe of Rs 2.11 lakh, an official release said here.

However, the complainant registered a complaint with the city office of ACB, whose team on Friday evening laid a trap in PWD office and caught red-handed Chavan while accepting the bribe money from the complainant, it added.
