Mahila Congress Prez Sushmita Dev attacks BJP over women safety, Rajen Gohain’s effigy burn in Guwahati
Guwahati, Aug 14 (IBNS): Congress MP and President of All India Mahila Congress Committee (AIMCC) Sushmita Dev on Tuesday said that, girls-women are presently not safe in the country.
Reacting over the rape allegations against Union Minster of State for Railways Rajen Gohain, Sushmita Dev said that a lady had lodged an FIR against the Union minister but the rape accused minister has misused his power.
“Rajen Gohain not only misused his power, he also has used vulgar language on record to threaten the husband of the victim. It is BJP’s culture. A BJP MLA had raped a girl in Unnao in Uttar Pradesh. In Assam, Rajen Gohain, an older man had also raped a woman and misused his ministerial power,” the Congress MP said.
Sushmita Dev demanded that Rajen Gohain should step down from his position.
“The phone recording proved that, Rajen Gohain is doing bullying and he threatened the girl and her family members,” Sushmita Dev said.
The president of All India Mahila Congress Committee said that while the Prime Minister saying ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, the Assam girls, women now urging to save them from Rajen Gohain.
Earlier, the members of Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee took out a protest rally in Guwahati and burnt effigy of Rajen Gohain.
They demanded the immediate sacking of Union Minister Rajen Gohain after a rape case was registered against him.
