Kolkata, Oct 28 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday paid homage to Sister Nivedita on the latter's birth anniversary.

"Homage to legendary social worker and disciple of Swami Vivekananda, Sister Nivedita on her 149th birth anniversary," Banerjee's tweet read.

Born as Margaret Elizabeth Noble, she was later rechristened as Sister Nivedita by Swami Vivekananda, her Guru, and worked towards the upliftment of Indian society.
