Mumbai/IBNS: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Wednesday visited Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and his family at their house 'Jalsa' in Mumbai's Juhu to celebrate Raksha Bandhan.

Speaking to reporters after her visit, Banerjee said: "I love this family. I have tied Rakhi to Amitabh Bachchanji and invited him and Jaya Bachchanji to visit Kolkata during the Durga Pujas and to attend the Kolkata International Film Festival. His presence in the Kolkata Film Festival is of supreme significance for us."

In the pictures that have emerged, Amitabh Bachchan, his wife Jaya Bachchan, son Abhishek, daughter-in-law Aishwarya, and granddaughter Aaradhya are seen assembled at the house's entrance to welcome the Chief Minister as she stepped out of her car.

They were joined by the megastar's daughter Shweta Bachchan and granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda.

The entire Bachchan family was dressed in their traditional best.

According to reports, Banerjee was invited by the senior Bachchan himself over for tea during her visit to Mumbai to attend the third meeting of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).

Speaking to the reports, Banerjee said she has spent quality time with the Bachchan family, which according to her is the "number one family in India."

"Although not officially, but from Bengal, we continue to raise this demand to honour Amitabh Bachchan with the Bharat Ratna award for his contribution to Indian cinema for such a long time," she told the media.

Amitabh Bachchan shares a close bond with Mamata Banerjee. Besides him, MP Jaya Bachchan shares an equally good relationship and had previously campaigned for her during the last Bengal assembly elections.
