New Delhi: A Delhi Court on Saturday granted interim bail to an accused arrested in connection with violence in Jahangirpuri here on April 16 that left nine people injured.

Suraj Sarkar moved an interim bail application by submitting that the he was a BA student and had to appear in the Semester IV examination of Bachelor of Arts (BA) between June 3 and 28.

Counsel submitted that the examination hall ticket has been received by the parents of the accused. If he does not take the examination, his future will be spoiled.

The prosecution opposed the bail application saying the accused was involved in riots and if granted bail he may flee from justice.

Additional Sessions Judge Gagandeep granted interim bail to Sarkar till June 18 after asking him to furnish a bail bond of Rs. 50,000.
