Man injured in firing in Assam’s Chirang district along Indo-Bhutan border

Guwahati/IBNS: A man was injured after the Forest Protection Force team fired at him in Assam’s Chirang district on Monday.

The incident took place in Runikhata reserve forest area along Indo-Bhutan border when the man was allegedly cutting trees in the area.

According to the reports, during the vigil, the Forest Protection Force team had found that the man was illegally cutting trees in the reserve forest area.

“When the team reached the area, the man had tried to flee from the area and the Forest Protection team fired at him. The injured person was rushed to a nearby hospital,” a forest official of Chirang district said.

The injured person was identified as 35-year-old Lama Charan Narzary and he is now under treatment at JSB Civil Hospital at Kajalgaon.

The forest team seized a tree-cutting machine from the area.
