New Delhi/UNI: A delegation of Manipur Congress including state chief K Meghachandra and former CM Okram Ibobi Singh met party's national president Mallikarjun Kharge here and apprised him about the situation in the North Eastern state, in the wake of recent violence.

"A delegation of Manipur Congress leaders apprised me of the tremendous difficulties which the people of Manipur had to go through during these troubling times," said Congress president in a series of tweets on Wednesday.

Kharge informed that a team of observers are being sent shortly to ascertain the ground realities in Manipur.

"The situation in Manipur remains tense and is deeply distressing. Kharge also demanded the Central government should do everything possible to bring normalcy in the state.

"The Union Government should do everything possible to see normalcy returns to the state. Every community has a stake in ensuring peace. Let us take everyone in confidence," the Congress chief said.

On Tuesday, the delegation met former party president Rahul Gandhi and briefed him about the state.

The Congress had earlier alleged the ruling BJP utterly "failed" to control the situation in Manipur and demanded imposition of President's Rule in the state.
