Manish Sisodia returns to Tihar Jail after 7 hrs, failing to meet his ailing wife

New Delhi: Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia left for Tihar Jail from his residence without meeting his wife, who had to be rushed to Delhi’s LNJP after her health deteriorated, media reports said.

The AAP leader was given bail from 10 am to 5 pm in the Delhi excise policy case to meet his ailing wife, who is suffering from multiple sclerosis, a disabling disease of the brain and central nervous system.

Manish Sisodia had sought bail for five weeks citing his wife’s health. The court reserved its order on Sisodia’s bail plea and asked for information from LNJP  on Sisodia’s wife’s health.

Sisodia’s counsel informed the court that he could not meet his wife as her health worsened. The court sought a report from LNJP on her health.

During the seven hours, Sisodia remained on house arrest and was not allowed to meet anyone except for his family members. He was not allowed to use the internet or interact with the media.

Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 in relation to the Delhi liquor policy case.

On March 9, he was also arrested by the ED in the same case, following an extensive interrogation at Tihar Jail.

The Delhi government introduced the new liquor policy on November 17, 2021, but terminated it by the end of September 2022 due to allegations of corruption.

Manish Sisodia is currently under investigation by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate for alleged corruption and money laundering.
