Chandigarh, Sept 12 (IBNS) The Haryana Government has forced an eight-day closure on all slaughter houses in the state, joining the wagon of the states to ban sale of meet on account of a Jain festival.
Haryana has become the fifth BJP-ruled to announce such a ban, which has triggered a controversy across the country, especially among those involved in the business.

On Friday, Chhatisgarh declared an eight-day ban on sale of meat till September 17 to follow Mumbai, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

The ban order in Mumbai was challenged by mutton traders and opposed by several political parties, including ruling BJP's ally Shiv Sena.
