Meghalaya announces ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 to next kin of COVID-19 deceased from Apr 1

Shillong/IBNS: The Meghalaya government on Thursday has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 to each of the next kin of COVID-19 deceased in the state.

The decision was taken during the review meeting of the COVID-19 situation in the state in presence of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong and other government officials held on Thursday.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that, the state government has decided to provide an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 to the next kin of COVID-19 deceased from April 1 this year.

Conrad Sangma tweeted, "Government has also decided that an ex gratia of ₹ 50,000 will be provided to the next of kin of #Covid deceased from 1st April 2021."

The Meghalaya government has also decided to give add on packages to the existing COVID-19 treatment packages of Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) and for ICU with vent Rs 4,900 per day package and an add on package of ARDS for Rs 60,000 will be added for patient suffering from multiple complications.

Conrad Sangma tweeted, “Government has decided to give add on packages to the existing #COVID Treatment Packages of MHIS. For ICU with vent ₹4900/- per day package, an add on package of ARDS for Rs 60000/- will be added for patient suffering from multiple complications.”

According to the Meghalaya government data, 374 people have died due to COVID-19 infections in the state since April 1 this year.

Meghalaya on Thursday has reported 12 deaths and 809 new COVID-19 positive cases.
