Srinagar/UNI: The first press conference of former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti after her release from detention since August last year, which was scheduled to be held Friday afternoon, has been postponed.

Meanwhile, Mufti today visited the graveyard of her father and founder of PDP Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at Bijbehara Anantnag and offered Fateha there. She was not allowed to visit the graveyard on the fourth death anniversary of the former Chief Minister in January this year as she was under Public Safety Act (PSA) detention.

PDP spokesperson and media advisor to Mehbooba, Syed Suhail Bukhari said in view of the meeting of Gupkar Declaration Signatories today afternoon, the presser of PDP president on October 16 has been postponed. New date and time will be communicated separately, he said.

Today's meeting was called by former chief minister and National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah, MP, this afternoon at his Gupkar residence. Dr Farooq and his son Omar Abdullah besides a number of leaders of different political parties and workers of PDP visited Mehbooba at Fairview Gupkar residence yesterday to express their solidarity with her.

Mufti, who headed a coalition government with BJP from April 16, 2016 till June 19,2018, was released only on October 13 evening after remaining under detention since August 5, 2019, when the Centre abrogated Article 370 and 35A besides downgraded the erstwhile state and divided it into two Union Territories (UT).

She is one of the signatories of the Gupkar Declaration which calls to fight for the special status of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state.
