Minor charred to death in Assam’s Silchar

Guwahati/IBNS: A 4-year-old minor boy died and one person was injured in a fire incident in Assam’s Silchar town.

The incident took place at Ambicapatty area in Silchar town of Cachar district on Friday evening where a massive fire broke out at a residential building named Dinesh Enclave located in Nursing road east.

The fire broke out at a flat in the fourth floor of the building.

According to the reports, parents left for work leaving their 4-year-old son with a 40-year-old house helper.

Some locals informed police and fire service personnel after noticing that smoke was coming out from the flat.

The entire flat caught fire and the house helper could not escape with the child as the door got jammed.

The house helper was also critically injured in the incident and he was rushed to nearby hospital.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Cachar district Barnali Sharma and other government officials rushed to the area to take stock the situation.

The reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.

The police suspect that short circuit could be the reason behind the tragedy.
