New Delhi, Aug 9 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi praising the new BJP president Amit Shah said the party would not have won in Uttar Pradesh without him and exuded confidence that under him the party will prosper.

Addressing the BJP's National Council, Modi said: "Rajnath Singh is the captain, Amit Shah is Man of the Match in polls."

Amit Shah on Saturday said the party should be a force to reckon with in every state, as the top party leaders from across the nation on Saturday ratified his appointment as the new  president at the national council meeting here.

"Let there be no state or union territory where the BJP is not a force to reckon with," Shah said.

The BJP national council meeting, first such gathering since the party stormed to power in 2014 Lok Sabha election, was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The session started with Shah’s ratification as the new party president.
