Jammu: A multi-layer security arrangement has been put in place ahead of 75th Independence Day for peaceful conduct of the celebrations across the Jammu region.

Police sources said that joint check points are set up at many locations for frisking operations especially the areas adjoining the main venue.

The main function will be held at Maulana Azad Stadium here.

“The ground as well as aerial surveillance has also been enhanced," they said adding that besides dog squads and drones, sharp shooters have also been deployed for the successful conduct of the national event and foil nefarious attempts if made by anti-national or anti-social elements.

Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, R R Bhatnagar will unfurl the Tricolour at Jammu and take salute of the parade.

"Frisking and checking have been intensified across the Jammu region especially in Jammu City," they said.

"A special checkpoint have also been set up in Jammu around the venue which is on a high alert and drones too have been pressed into service to keep a close watch on suspicious movement. Sniffer dogs are also deployed in and around the venue,” he said.

A police picket has been set up on the banks of River Tawi near the venue.

A full-dress rehearsal was also held on Saturday at the Stadium where Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar took salute of the parade and unfurled the tri-colour besides reviewing the overall security arrangements.

Meanwhile, Jammu is giving a festive look with National Flag hoisted atop all private and government buildings, residences and shops.

The three bridges connecting old city with South Jammu are beautifully illuminated with Tricolour lights.

Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh also stressed on anti-drone measures while reviewing the security scenario to be put in place for Independence Day celebrations across the region.

Singh stressed on anti-drone measures besides border deployment grid, launching of offensive operation vis-à-vis preventive measures needed to be taken in other districts as well.
