Mumbai, Jan 22 (IBNS): Mumbai quotes the lowest among the 10 large cities in Maharashtra that have submitted the proposal estimates for the central-government funded Smart City project.
Mumbai has submitted a proposal estimate of Rs 1,118 crore, the lowest, a sharp contrast to neighbouring Thane's Rs 6,630 crore, which is the highest quote among the 10 cities.

Even Navi Mumbai has quoted Rs 1,734 crore.

The proposal estimates submitted by the other cities are -- Pune - Rs 2,932 crore, Solapur - Rs 2,921 crore, Kalyan-Dombivali - Rs 2,057 crore, Nashik - Rs 1,945 crore, Amravati - Rs 5,305 crore, Nagpur - Rs 3,409 crore and Aurangabad city - Rs 1,595.5 crore.

Shiv Sena, which runs the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), looks upon the Centre's Smart City Project as a means to gain access to Mumbai. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis rejected the claim, according to local media reports.

Fadnavis had said that a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) would be set up to implement the project that will be dominated by civic officials.
