Naga Hoho of Nagaland demands inclusion of all parties
Kohima/UNI: The Naga Hoho, the apex traditional body of Naga tribes, has appealed to the Centre that the final solution should be inclusive of all parties concerned and that there should not be further division arising out of a piecemeal agreement.
A press statement issued by the Naga Hoho urged all Nagas, particularly national workers, to leave aside their differences for the sake of peace and tranquility in “our land” and unite for a peaceful solution that would pave way for lasting peace.
Noting that Nagas’ quest for peace and to live as equals had come a long way, NH said “freedom fighters had sacrificed their lives for the cause of Naga independence and sovereignty, while some decided to betray in the past, which made the people suffer untold miseries in the process of 'our struggle'. And today, time and opportunity for Nagas had come once again to choose and decide our destiny.''
Meanwhile, the Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) has objected to the exclusion of some Naga civil society organizations including the NMA by the State agencies and the Interlocutor for Naga Peace Talks .
In a release, the NMA said it has objection at this critical juncture on the policy of exclusion of civil society like the Naga Hoho (NH), NMA, the Naga Students Federation (NSF) and the Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) that have supported the peace process and peace dialogue for decades, by the State agencies and the Interlocutor for Naga Peace Talks.
It appealed to Naga leaders and brothers from different Naga political groups to come together in peace and speak for a solution that brings sustainable peace to the Nagas and their children.
Naga mothers also appealed to the state government to “impartially” play its role of facilitators for peace by taking all Nagas forward. Further, NMA urged the Interlocutor to “abstain from selective division” of Nagas.
It reminded that Naga women’s voices must also be counted in the process of peacebuilding. NMA maintained that Nagas cannot afford another period of violence. “Let there be no more bloodshed and peace be brought through mutual respect and understanding,” NMA said.
