Narendra Modi rattled, BJP perplexed by Opposition alliance: TMC

Kolkata/UNI: The Trinamool Congress has said that the saffron outfit is scrambling to infuse life into a "moribund" NDA as it is "visibly perplexed" by the formidable strength of the newly formed Opposition alliance INDIA.

Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh also claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was "rattled" at the new political development.

"Visibly perplexed by the formidable strength of the Opposition alliance, BJP4 scrambling to infuse life into a moribund NDA, scheduled a meeting. It is evident that the Bengaluru meeting has left BJP baffled and PM Narendra Modi rattled, " Ghosh tweeted Tuesday night.

"After losing its traditional allies by riding roughshod over partners and sidestepping consensus building on key issues, the PM said 'saare Opposition ke liye toh main akela kaafi hoon'. So, why does he now have to bring together parties that have already splintered, in order to show numbers? " asked Ghosh.

Ghosh wondered why the BJP was now "wooing estranged allies and forming a motley group to bulk up electorally".

In this context, Ghosh referred to the Organiser magazine considered "close to the BJP's ideological mentor RSS", and claimed that it had pointed out that the "Modi magic is not working anymore".

"It is clear from the sense of fear, panic and apprehension that has trickled down to the BJP's state leadership that their activists have lost conviction in the 'Modi' brand".

Earlier, West Bengal Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari mocked at the meeting of a host of parties opposed to the BJP in Bengaluru, alleging that the opportunistic coalition has ignored the dead bodies of the workers, who laid down their lives to resist the tyranny of the ruling party of Bengal during Panchayat election.
